Keir Starmer has finally bowed to pressure and agreed to a national statutory inquiry into the grooming gangs scandal.
This is a crucial step forward, and it’s thanks to you and countless others who refused to let this issue be swept under the carpet.
Over 150,000 people backed our campaign. Survivors bravely spoke out.
Together, we’ve made it impossible for this injustice to be ignored any longer.
But let’s be honest: this isn’t leadership. Starmer ignored this issue for months—just like he did with the winter fuel payment. Once again, he had to be dragged to the right decision.
Now the real work begins. This inquiry needs to be thorough and swift. Survivors can’t afford to wait years for answers. Justice delayed is justice denied.
While today might bring a sense of relief to many survivors, they know the fight isn’t over.
And neither is ours.
We'll be pushing Labour for clarity on this inquiry on Monday.
