Children are spending more time on social media than ever before.
They’re often being exposed to violent or pornographic content.
Or they are being contacted by strangers, allowing for grooming and exploitation.
We would never allow our children to be exposed to these kinds of dangers in the real world.
That’s why the Conservatives have announced that they would restricting access to social media for under 16s.
Not only do social media platforms highlight explicit content, they also are extremely addictive and use techniques that exploit anxiety, comparison and distraction.
This can have drastic consequences, especially in younger users whose self-control is still developing.
Protecting childhood is one of the most responsible steps we can to support parents and protect children.
