Last night Conservative Peers in the House of Lords defeated the government, forcing through critical amendments to Labour's shameful Chagos Surrender Bill.
Time and time again the Government has sought to silence and ignore the Chagossian people and dodge scrutiny for this outrageous deal, which would surrender British territory and cost the British taxpayer £35 billion.
That's why yesterday the House of Lords voted through four amendments, including one that would require a referendum of Chagossian’s before ratification.
The Conservatives are leading the fightback to this shameful deal, and this shambolic Labour Government.
