So we want workers to know we have their backs. And that’s why we’d tackle National Insurance, an unfair double tax on work.
Right now, workers have to pay two taxes: income tax as well as National Insurance. It’s not fair on workers and it’s not good for our economy.
That’s why the Conservatives have a clear plan.
We cut National Insurance by a third — from 12% to 8%. That’s a £900 tax cut for someone on an average salary of £34,500.
And that's a good start. But we want to go further.
Our long-term ambition is to abolish National Insurance entirely.
So we’d end the unfair double tax on work and support the workers who keep our economy going.
