Boris Johnson wins the BBC Leaders’ Debate

Commenting on the BBC leaders' debate, Matt Hancock, Health Secretary, said:

“Tonight, Jeremy Corbyn once again demonstrated an abject failure of leadership. His repeated unwillingness to set out a clear position on Brexit means he has no credibility on anything else.  A vote for Labour, or any of the other parties, is a vote for more dither and delay leaving our country stuck in neutral.

“With Corbyn in No10 propped up by Nicola Sturgeon and a hung parliament which remains gridlocked and broken, politicians would continue to argue over Brexit for years to come, with 2020 lost to the chaos of another two referendums – one on Brexit and another on Scottish independence. On top of this Corbyn’s reckless economic ideas would leave every taxpayer paying £2,400 more every year, and his weakness on security would put the British people at risk.

“Only a majority Conservative Government can stop the chaos, end the uncertainty and get Brexit done. We will unleash our country’s potential delivering the change people voted for in the referendum, investing in people’s priorities like building 40 new hospitals, putting 20,000 more police on our streets and investing in our schools all whilst keeping taxes low.”
