Chris Heaton-Harris

Member of Parliament for Daventry

Chris was elected as MP for Daventry in 2010 and has been re-elected in the subsequent 2015 and 2017 General Elections.

In June 2016, Chris was promoted to Assistant Government Whip, with a brief in the Cabinet Office and the Department for Education. In June 2017, Chris was again promoted to a senior position within the Whips Office, holding the title of 'Vice Chamberlain of the Household' before taking on the role of Comptroller of Her Majesty’s Household. Chris served as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Exiting the EU, between July 2018 and April 2019, working as part of the team delivering on Brexit.

Previous to this, Chris was a Conservative Member of the European Parliament for the East Midlands Region of the UK from June 1999 to June 2009. He held various positions in the European Parliament including that of Chief Whip of the British Conservatives from 2001-2004.

Before entering politics, he worked in and eventually ran his family’s business – a wholesale fruit and vegetable company – for eleven years. A sports enthusiast, he is an advocate for the Special Olympics movement in the UK and has been an active and qualified football referee for over 37 years.
