Having represented South Swindon in Parliament since 2010, I have worked hard to represent fellow local residents.
My priorities are:
- Campaigning for investment in local infrastructure, such as the doubling of the Swindon to Kemble railway and electrification of the Great Western mainline, and provision of the Thamesdown Drive extension
- Actively supporting the work of a large number of Swindon organisations, especially in the fields of mental health, respite care and learning disability
- Holding regular advice surgeries across South Swindon and fighting hard on issues raised by residents and businesses
In Parliament, I have been an extremely active contributor to questions, debates and campaigns. I have helped strengthen the law on stalking and harassment, changed the sentencing rules for ‘hate crimes’, and achieved a breakthrough in the support provided for young people with autism. In July 2014, I was appointed Solicitor General.
I am married with two children and am proud to live in South Swindon. My pledge is to continue working hard to make things better for our home town.
