Matthew was born and brought up in London and has lived in the capital all of his life. Matthew is married to Melanie and they have a son, Charles, and another baby due this autumn.
Currently working at one of Britain’s largest insurance companies, Matthew previously worked for the Confederation of British Industry.
Matthew has campaigned for Conservatives in elections across the country and as a local councillor, school governor and grass roots activist. He understands the priorities people have for their families and communities.
Commenting on his selection, Matthew said:
"Being selected means the world to me. I'm determined to reward the faith that has been put in me by working hard for the people of Carshalton & Wallington and making sure they have a strong voice in parliament and a local MP whom they can trust to keep his promises. Only a Conservative government will get debt under control, reduce immigration, give people a referendum on the EU and cap benefits."
