Alex Johnstone MSP is married to Linda and they have two children. Before being an MSP he was a dairy and arable farmer and was active in the Young Farmers movement both at local and national level.

Alex Johnstone became an MSP in 1999, and has been Scottish Conservative Chief Whip. Alex fought the seat of West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine in the 2005 general election.

In May 2010, he was appointed Shadow Minister for Public Health, Housing, Communities & Sport.
