Gavin Brown MSP lives locally in Edinburgh South.
He is married to Hillary, who is a primary school teacher and has a daughter, Ava, who is a year old.
In the Scottish Parliament, Gavin sits on the Economy Committee. He is also Convenor of the Scottish Parliament & Business Exchange and Co-Convenor of the Cross Party Group on Skills.
Since being elected in May 2007, Gavin has campaigned on a whole range of issues, including fighting for more police on the beat, lowering of business rates, a coherent drugs strategy and has advocated a zero tolerance approach to knife crime.
Prior to being elected, Gavin founded and ran a training business with a range of clients around the world. In 2004 he won an award for ‘Most Outstanding Trainer in the World’. Before that he was a solicitor at one of Scotland’s most respected legal firms.
In his spare time, Gavin takes part in Tae Kwon-Do (he holds a black belt and is a former Scottish gold medallist) and long distance running.
In May 2010, he was appointed Shadow Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Energy & Tourism.
