Wiggin Bill 2

Bill lives with his wife Milly near Ledbury. They have three children, Rosie 9, Jack 6 and Toby 5, all born in Hereford Hospital. The Wiggin family have strong roots in Leominster constituency. Bill's father used to farm near Upton on Severn, and Special metals Wiggin Ltd was founded by his great grandfather.

Bill’s interests include motorbikes, DIY, diving, shooting, fishing, and farming. He keeps chickens and Hereford cows, and has a great interest in the problems and issues facing those who live and work in the countryside.

Prior to being elected MP for Leominster in 2001, Bill Wiggin had worked for Commerzbank as a manager in the Foreign Exchange department. Bill has also been a Governor of Hammersmith and West London Further Education College, and served as an Officer in the Territorial Army with the Royal Welch Fusiliers and the Royal Yeomanry.

Bill Wiggin's Experience

Bill fought the Burnley seat at the General Election in 1997, and has also served as Vice Chairman of Hammersmith and Fulham Conservative Association. In April 1999, Bill was selected for Leominster, and was elected MP in 2001.

In June 2003, he was appointed as a Shadow Minister for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, and continues to be a Member of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee, which he joined in 2002.

In November 2003 to 2005, Bill was Shadow Secretary of State for Wales. In this position, Bill stood up for the interests of the people of Wales in parliament, holding the government to account on issues affecting Wales. From May 2005 to January 2009, he served as a Shadow Minister for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs.

In May 2010, Bill became an Assistant Government Whip.
