Rosindell Andrew

Andrew is truly "local" to Romford. Having lived here all his life, he really does care about the town. He was born in Romford and went to local schools, Rise Park and Marshalls Park.

Andrew has also served as a councillor in Romford for eleven years, representing Chase Cross & Havering-atte-Bower. He is a member of the St. Edward The Confessor Church in Romford Market Place.

Since his school days, Andrew has been active in the community, supporting local charities, voluntary groups and churches in Romford.

Andrew joined the Conservative Party in 1981. His experience includes:

1983-84 Chairman, Romford Young Conservatives.

1987-88 Chairman, Greater London Young Conservatives.

1993-94 Chairman, National Young Conservatives.

1993-97 Chairman, European Young Conservatives.

1991-98 International Secretary, National Young Conservatives

1998-2002 Chairman, International Young Democrat Union.

1990-2002 Councillor, Chase Cross Ward, London Borough of Havering.

1998-2001 Chairman, Romford Conservative Association.

General Election 1992: Conservative Party Candidate - Glasgow Provan

General Election 1997: Conservative Party Candidate - Thurrock

Member of the National Union Executive Committee of the Conservative Party 1986-1988 and 1992-1994.

Conservative Party Candidate Chase Cross Ward By-election 1988

Local Elections Chase Cross Ward 1990, 1994 & 1998 (in 1998 - Highest Conservative share of the vote in London - 88%!)

1997 - Director/International Director, European Foundation.

2010 - Governor, Westminster Foundation for Democracy

He was elected as a Member of Parliament in 2001. In March 2004, he was appointed as a Vice-Chairman of the Conservative Party. In December 2005, he became an Opposition Whip and in July 2007, he was appointed as a Shadow Minister for Home Affairs. In 2010 he was elected to serve on the Foreign Affairs Select Committee.
