Mowat David

David was born and brought up in the Midlands, attending his local grammar school before studying Engineering at Imperial Collage where he joined the RAF as a cadet pilot officer.

David was born and brought up in the Midlands, attending his local grammar school before studying Engineering at Imperial Collage where he joined the RAF as a cadet pilot officer.

After graduating David qualified as a chartered accountant and subsequently joined Accenture, the technology and consulting firm. In 1989 he became the youngest ever UK Partner and subsequently built the business from a staff level of 400 to over 15,000. His final position was as a Global Managing Partner responsible for a business with a turnover of £500million.

He is a former Chairman of Fairbridge in Greater Manchester, a charity dedicated to improving the life chances of young people aged 16-21.

David is married to Nicky, a primary schoolteacher, and they have lived in Cheshire since 1990. David and Nicky have four children Andrew, Laura, Emma and Victoria.  

In Parliament

David Mowat was elected as the Member of Parliament for Warrington South in May 2010 and gained the constituency for the Conservative Party with a majority of 1,553. Within Parliament, David is a member of the Scottish Affairs Select Committee and also served on the Joint Committee scrutinising the draft Financial Services Bill.

He is a trustee of the House of Commons Pension Fund and serves on the Board of the Parliamentary Office for Science & Technology, the non-partisan advisory body on Science & Technology policy within Parliament. He is also a member of several All Party Parliamentary Groups including Autism, Financial Education for Young People, Nuclear and Rail in the North. He is Vice Chairman President of the Rugby League and Nuclear Power Groups.

In Parliament, David regularly contributes to debates on energy policy, pensions, banking  and regional public spending.le.

Campaigning in Warrington South

Since being elected to Parliament, David has worked with Borough and Parish Councillors of all parties on campaigns in the local community, including the use of the swing bridges on the Manchester Ship Canal and campaigning against the extension of the Arpley landfill site.

At the start of 2012, after extensive lobbying of ministers, David managed to get the Driving Test Centre reinstated in Warrington. He also successfully helped local residents to block an unwanted travelling showman’s site in Stretton.

In Parliament, David has led the campaign for HS2 and also regularly argues for higher levels of investment in transport infrastructure in the North West.
