A former businesswoman and Council Leader, Lorraine was Elected in May 2010. Lorraine won a majority of 5554 on an 8% swing from Labour. Lorraine has fought successful local campaigns including working to save flood defences and maintain land drainage; leading residents in their opposition to the inappropriate siting of wind turbines.
Lorraine fought to secure the Lancashire Enterprise Zone and the City Deal and champions the regeneration of Leyland. A strong supporter of Academies, Lorraine proudly opened Academy@Worden in Leyland, and is now a trustee.
Lorraine sits on the Home Affairs Select Committee and has served as Chair of the APPG on Policing from 2012-2013. Her other interests include defence, local government and business and enterprise.
Lorraine has been consistent in her scepticism of our current relationship with the EU joining colleagues early on in calling for a Referendum. Lorraine and her husband Mark have lived in South Ribble since 2004
