Last night local residents of Twickenham attended an Open Primary and selected local Twickenham councilor Dr Tania Mathias to be their Conservative candidate for the Twickenham Constituency at the General Election in 2015.
Dr Mathias, who lives in the Twickenham constituency, was selected by nearly two hundred local residents who attended the Open Primary.
Fraser Nelson hosted the question and answer session, and the residents were also able to ask questions, which ranged from local concerns to Syria and other international issues.
Commenting on her selection, Tania said "I am extremely proud to have been selected as the Twickenham Conservative candidate this evening: not only because the competition has been so strong, but also because residents have asked important questions and raised interesting local and international concerns. I look forward to many more discussions and sharing of views with residents.''
"I have lived in the constituency for over ten years and I am also a local school governor and local councilor. I also work in the NHS as a hospital doctor and my listening skills will help me in my new political role as I’m looking forward to meeting as many Twickenham residents as possible. I believe Twickenham will flourish under a Conservative government.”
