Corby and East Northamptonshire Conservatives have selected Tom Pursglove as their Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the 2015 General Election.
Tom grew up and lives in nearby Wellingborough and is well known locally as a result of his political activity and sporting interests.
Elected to serve on Wellingborough Council in 2007 at the age of 18, Tom is very familiar with the issues facing Corby and the local area, relishing the opportunity to represent constituents in 2015. As Deputy Chairman Political of the Wellingborough Conservative Association, Tom is an experienced campaigner and has been involved with a winning run of twelve successive local by-election victories to both the borough council and the East Northamptonshire District Council.
Tom currently works as a researcher for Daventry MP Chris Heaton Harris and has worked closely with Peter Bone MP, assisting him in engaging with local residents, identifying issues of concern and taking action to resolve them.
Commenting on his selection Peter Bone MP said: "Winning this seat back will be no easy task- Andy Sawford MP is working extremely hard- but as a local candidate with a proven track record of winning seats from Labour, representing and holding a former Labour stronghold on the Borough Council, organising and encouraging activists and leading a team, I believe Tom is best placed to achieve this".
