Southampton Itchen Conservatives have selected Royston Smith as their Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the 2015 General Election.
Royston is the Leader of the Conservative group on Southampton City Council and fought the seat in the 2010 general election missing out on a seat in parliament by just 192 votes.
He lives in the constituency with his family and has done so for most of his life. He sits on the board of Southampton Solent University as an independent governor, is a trustee of the Blue Lamp Trust and Chairman of the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Authority.
Commenting after his selection, Royston said: "I am delighted to have been selected to contest this seat again. The next election may well be even more challenging than the last, but with the support of the dedicated team here in Southampton Itchen I believe we have a very good chance of winning this time."
