In Today's Mid-Term Review, the Government took stock of progress so far and set out the areas in which reform will be announced over the coming months.

The Review highlights that we are on the right track – a quarter of the deficit has been cleared and the Government is ensuring Britain thrives in the global race and backs people who want to work hard and get on.

The Review also emphasises that the Government has faced up to making difficult decisions on welfare, immigration and crime and that the bold reforms taking place in these areas are starting to show results.

Prime Minister David Cameron announced several areas in which the Government will be implementing new reforms:

  • Supporting working families with the cost of childcare
  • Building more houses and making the dream of home ownership a reality for more people
  • More long-term investment in Britain’s transport infrastructure
  • Helping the elderly with the cost of long-term care
  • Reforming the state pension so that it rewards saving
