Criminal barrister Alex Chalk has been selected as the new Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Cheltenham ahead of the 2015 General Election.
Raised locally and with family ties still in the constituency, Mr Chalk has spent the last decade as a criminal barrister prosecuting and defending cases ranging from shop-lifting to multi-million pound fraud to murder.
Mr Chalk, who was brought up in the Charlton Kings area of the constituency, says his political priorities ahead of the election are to ‘to promote the local economy, jobs and growth; tackle the legacy of Labour’s debt, secure a strong future for the NHS and improve local education particularly in Maths and the sciences.’
As a councillor on London’s Conservative-controlled Hammersmith and Fulham Council he has a wealth of experience and has helped to achieve historic council tax reductions, a reduction in overall council debt from £169m in 2006 to under £100m today, and helped to put more police officers on the beat.
Promoted by Alan Mabbutt on behalf of the Conservative Party, both at 4 Matthew Parker Street,
