Sayeeda Warsi, Co-chairman of the Conservative Party, has condemned the bullying of trade union members who refused to participate in this week's strikes, after one union official called non-strikers 'scabs'.
The comments were made in an email from an official at Britain's biggest union, Unison, and stated that the actions of non-strikers were 'immoral and unacceptable' and that they 'should be ashamed.'
Sayeeda Warsi urged Labour leader Ed Miliband, whose party receives more than 80 per cent of its funding from the unions and who won his leadership bid thanks to their support, to condemn the behaviour.
She said: "The reports which have surfaced yesterday are truly shocking. I am appalled that a union official should intimidate those who decided not to strike.
"Ed Miliband must stop being weak and condemn this intimidation by Unison, one of his party's biggest paymasters."
