Cameron welcomes Scottish Conservatives Leader Ruth Davidson

Prime Minister David Cameron has welcomed the election of Ruth Davidson as Leader of the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.

The Prime Minister said:

'I am delighted to congratulate Ruth Davidson on winning this leadership election.

'I spoke to her this evening and look forward to working with her to strengthen the Union and build a better future for Scotland. She will lead the Scottish Conservative Party as a modern, forward-looking force in Scottish politics.

'Ruth has a vision for stronger families, better schools and hospitals, and making Scotland an enterprise nation.

'I look forward to her revitalising the party, attracting new members and activists, and starting to win again.'
