The Conservative Party Chairman, Eric Pickles, has called for an immediate General Election following increasing divisions within the Labour Party.
Former Cabinet Ministers Geoff Hoon and Patricia Hewitt have called for a ballot on Gordon Brown’s leadership.
Pickles said that "it's irresponsible to have such a dysfunctional, faction ridden Labour Party running the country", when "everyday a Labour MP is turning on the Prime Minister".
"Ministers are more concerned about saving their own political skin than actually getting Britain out of the monumental mess we are in", he said.
"We cannot go on like this. The only responsible thing the Government can do is call a general election".
Eric is the MP for Brentwood & Ongar and Chairman of the Conservative Party.
