At Prime Minister’s Questions this afternoon, David Cameron asked if the "commitment and relentless activity" required for our mission in Afghanistan is really on display in the Government.
He pointed to the number of helicopters available to the troops in Afghanistan, which he said was “simply insufficient”, and asked the Prime Minister if his decision in 2004, as Chancellor, to reduce the helicopter budget had been a mistake.
David also described the early objectives in Afghanistan as “too lofty”, and said that a tighter definition of the mission would help achieve more visible progress.
He closed by asking the Prime Minister whether changing Defence Secretaries four times in four years sent the wrong message about the mission to both our troops and the public.
David was elected Leader of the Conservatives in December 2005 and appointed Prime Minister in May 2010.
