William Hague attacked Labour for refusing to admit they are planning spending cuts at Prime Minister’s Questions.
He asked Harriet Harman, who was standing in for Gordon Brown, to admit that total spending will fall, capital spending will be reduced from £44 billion to £22 billion, and departmental spending will have to fall according to their own projections.
When Harriet Harman refused to admit that capital spending is set to decrease, Willam accused her of being “out of touch”.
He stressed that Labour’s failure to admit they are planning cuts “damages the credibility of politics and the credibility of this Government”.
And he made clear that “Labour cuts are being brought in by a Labour chancellor” because of the actions of a “discredited government”.
William is the Shadow Foreign Secretary. He was heavily involved in student politics and has been an MP since 1989.
