George Osborne has demanded action from the Government following reports suggesting a return of the City bonus culture.
The Shadow Chancellor said, “I warned last month that another unacceptable round of big bonuses were on their way. The banks should watch out they don't misuse taxpayer support – it’s there to support lending in the economy not mega pay deals.”
George added, “Alistair Darling says he has finally woken up to the problem, but when you're the owner of half the banking system actions speak louder then words.”
"The RBS deal, signed off by the Treasury, doesn't exactly inspire confidence that the lessons of the financial crisis have been learnt."
George is Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer. He has worked in a wide range of departments during his political career.
