David Cameron has announced a radical new process to make Shadow Cabinet expense claims more open, saying "transparency is the key factor in restoring trust to our political system".

The proposals include: publishing all significant unredacted correspondence and receipts in relation to those expense claims, from today.

The Shadow Cabinet have been publishing theirĀ expense claims online since 12th May.

In addition, we are asking the House of Commons Commission to publish the 08/09 expenses as quickly as possible and in an uncensored form. Finally, only strictly private information e.g phone number and bank details should be removed from claims.

The Conservative Leader said, "This is a large but necessary task. All MPs must explain their past errors and account for them. But I am determined that from this point on myself and my Shadow Cabinet will do all we can to be as transparent as possible."

And he added, "Only then can trust between the public and their politicians begin to be rebuilt."
