Hunt calls on BBC to make decision over Sir Alan Sugar

Tuesday, June 9 2009

Jeremy Hunt

Jeremy Hunt warned the BBC’s impartiality has been compromised by Sir Alan Sugar’s attendance at ‘The Apprentice Event’, which was used to promote the Government’s policies on apprenticeships.

Jeremy, the Shadow Culture Secretary, said, “This is a perfect example of why Sir Alan Sugar’s role at the BBC is incompatible with his role in Government.”

“Sir Alan is using a BBC programme as a way of promoting Government policies, which completely compromises the BBC’s impartiality.”

Jeremy stressed, “This is simply unacceptable and if Sir Alan isn’t willing to choose between his roles then the BBC must decide for him.”

The event, which took place today, was hosted at the Federation Brewery in Gateshead.
