Ballot Box

With all seats declared, our share of the vote and number of seats are both up after Thursday's European Elections.

The Conservatives won 26 seats and got 29% of the vote - an increase of 2% from 2005, and 14% more than Labour received.

We topped the poll in Wales (for the first time since 1931) and in every region in England except the North East.

  • North East - 1 Conservative MEP (Callanan)
  • Eastern - 3 Conservative MEPs (Van Orden, Sturdy, Ford)
  • Yorkshire and the Humber - 2 Conservative MEPs (McMillan-Scott and Kirkhope)
  • Wales - 1 Conservative MEP (Swinburne)
  • London - 3 Conservative MEPs (Tannock, Kamall, Yannakoudakis)
  • East Midlands - 2 Conservative MEPs (Helmer, McClarkin)
  • South West - 3 Conservative MEPs (Chichester, Girling and Fox)
  • South East - 4 Conservative MEPs (Hannan, Ashworth, Deva and Elles)
  • West Midlands - 2 Conservative MEPs (Bradbourn, Harbour)
  • North West - 3 Conservative MEPs (Atkins, Karim, Foster)
  • Scotland - 1 MEP (Stevenson)
  • Northern Ireland - 1 MEP (Nicholson)
