May slams Labour for "rehashing" ideas to help women

Thursday, March 5 2009

Theresa May

Theresa May has attacked Labour for "rehashing old ideas and pretending it is shiny new policy" in a new report aimed at helping women.

The document, entitled 'Real Help Now for Women', is supposed to give guidance on a range of issues - but Theresa, the Shadow Women's Secretary, warned that it was merely a stunt.

"Instead of focusing their energies on PR stunts, the Government should be looking at how it can actually help businesses survive this downturn and keep more people, including women, in work."

Theresa stressed that adopting our idea of a National Loan Guarantee Scheme, to get credit flowing to business, would be "a good place to start".

And she called on the Government to also adopt our proposals to tackle violence against women.
