Grieve warns Labour have lost control of immigration
Wednesday, November 19 2008

Dominic Grieve has warned that Labour have completely lost control of immigration after new figures showed that net immigration rose to 237,000 last year.
The Shadow Home Secretary stressed that immigration can be a real benefit to the county – but only if it is properly controlled.
He cautioned that the Government chaos over immigration is likely to increase with the Home Secretary and new immigration minister “at loggerheads” over policy, stressing:
“The Government should stop squabbling and adopt our policies of an annual limit on non-EU immigration, transitional controls on future EU immigration and establishing a dedicated UK border police force.”
And he called for “a coherent long term population strategy that does not just focus on immigration but also brings together policy on issues from housing to skills and planning to the family.”
