Labour haven't given patients a voice over NHS care

A new report from the National Audit Office on complaint handling in health and social care has revealed Labour’s failure to give patients a say over their care.

Andrew Lansley, the Shadow Health Secretary, said, “This report clearly shows that Labour haven’t been doing enough to give NHS patients a voice when things go wrong.”

And he promised that a Conservative Government would give people more control over the health care they receive:

  • Patients will be able to go to the Care Quality Commission to resolve any disputes
  • We will create a new body called Health Watch to help guide people through the process of making a complaint and give them a real say in their care

Andrew stressed that under a Conservative Government, “Doctors and nurses will start becoming more accountable to the patients they serve rather than politicians in Westminster.”
