Hague condemns Mugabe's refusal to share power

Saturday, October 11 2008

William Hague

William Hague has criticised Robert Mugabe for ignoring the power sharing deal with the MDC and instead appointing his party representatives to key ministerial positions.

William condemned Mugabe for snubbing the power sharing agreement, saying "It looks more and more that, for him, that agreement was only a ploy.”

And the Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs stressed that “Britain, the EU and the wider international community” should be ready to widen sanctions on the Mugabe regime if the power sharing deal breaks down.

Rt Hon William Hague

William is the First Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Foreign & Commonwealth Affairs. He was heavily involved in student politics and has been an MP since 1989.
