David Cameron has launched a knife crime action plan and outlined how a Conservative Government will fix Britain’s broken society.

He stressed the need to “crack down” on knife crime and criminals, and set out a number of proposals including:

- Long-term measures to make families stronger and deal with the causes of crime

- Tougher policing to catch those who carry knives without a reasonable excuse and those who commit kinfe crimes

- Tougher sentencing, so that rather than a third of knife criminals being let off with a caution or final warning, as happens currently, anyone convicted under a Conservative Government would expect to receive a custodial sentence

- A system of rehabilitating young offenders to stop them committing knife and other crimes in the future

David called for “tough action” to tackle knife crime, and said, “While our society is broken today, it is not broken for ever. We can and will repair it.”

Rt Hon David Cameron

David was elected Leader of the Conservatives in December 2005 and appointed Prime Minister in May 2010.
