David Davis has won the Haltemprice and Howden by-election with a majority of 15,355.
He captured 72% of the vote, and in his victory speech he stressed that the voters of Halemprice and Howden had sent a “stunning message to the Government”.
David was fighting on a civil liberties platform, and said that his by-election win was the beginning rather than the end of his campaign.
He promised to “fight Gordon Brown’s vision of ‘Big Brother Britain’ tooth and nail” and to stand up for “those fundamental freedoms that define our way of life”.
David Cameron described the former Shadow Home Secretary as “a brave and courageous man” and praised him for “standing up and saying what’s right”.
