Green plans will put environment at heart of government

Vote blue Go green

Welsh Conservative Glyn Davies has welcomed David Cameron’s plan to put the environment at the heart of any future Conservative Government’s policy.

Mr Cameron was speaking to an audience of all the leading bodies concerned with environmental issues, and his speech has been widely welcomed as groundbreaking.

Commenting on David Cameron’s speech Glyn Davies, who is the Welsh Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Montgomeryshire and President of the Campaign for the Protection of Rural Wales, said: “The rising cost of food and fuel has relegated concern for the environment to the backburner.

“David Cameron has just put it back at the top of the agenda again – and he is absolutely right to do so. As a nation, we cannot afford to dilute our commitment to reducing carbon emissions or our determination to stop the present destruction of the world’s natural resources.

“We now know that a Conservative Government led by David Cameron will enter office intent on reconfiguring our whole economy and overturning our whole hydrocarbon dependency.

“In Montgomeryshire, we are privileged to live in an especially beautiful part of the world, and I want our children and grandchildren to be enjoying the same privilege and pleasures in 50 years time as I do today.

“Governments can change corporate and personal behaviour – but it requires brave decisions. There must be a regulatory and taxation regime that rewards innovation in the development of a secure renewable energy supply and energy efficiency. Some aspects of this may not be popular but it will be right.”
