Dominic Grieve appointed Shadow Home Secretary

Dominic Grieve has been appointed as Shadow Home Secretary following David Davis' decision to resign as an MP.

David Cameron said: "This is a personal decision for David Davis." He added: "we remain fully committed to our opposition to 42 days and the new Shadow Home Secretary Dominic Grieve will step up our efforts to fight against it in Parliament."

Upon taking up his new role, Dominic Grieve said: "I fully understand David Davis’ brave stand and I am honoured to take up this appointment. It has been a privilege to work with him in fighting 42 days."

Rt Hon David Cameron

David was elected Leader of the Conservatives in December 2005 and appointed Prime Minister in May 2010.
