David Cameron has launched a report on Responsible Business that looks at ways a Conservative Government could encourage business to play a central role in securing a better future for British society.
The report, entitled ‘A light but effective touch’, examines a wide range of areas, including obesity, drinking and climate change.
It calls for the introduction of Responsibility Deals, which would enable companies to work with other groups in society to address important issues.
David announced that Archie Norman, former Shadow Environment Secretary and Chief Executive and Chairman of Asda, will develop a strategy for implementing the first Responsibility Deal, which will look at the issue of producer waste.
David said:
"Precisely because we have such a high regard for business and the contribution it makes to our society, I want the modern Conservative Party to be not just the party of business but of responsible business."
