Peter Ainsworth and his fellow Shadow Defra Minister Bill Wiggin yesterday met with Michelin star chef Tom Aikens, at his restaurant Tom’s Place to discuss the plight of British fishing and protecting our marine reserves.
The discussion followed a private screening of Tom Aikens’ documentary highlighting the difficulties fishermen in Cornwall face and the problems contained within the Common Fisheries Policies.
Peter said, “Our fishermen have one of the toughest jobs out there. Tom’s documentary and our discussions have highlighted that if we are to protect our fishing industry, we need to make radical changes to the way we manage our marine resources. ”.
