Some forty 13-24 year olds from the local youth club HYPE (Hamble Young Peoples Experience) and Senior Citizens from In It 2ogether met up last week to launch the next part of our project.
The enthusiasm and excitement was palpable when we met to get cracking on our performing arts extravaganza. I never thought in a million years that 40 young people could be so quiet for the briefing and yet so animated and loud with their ideas!
We're being choreographed by Alex Ivanets (British ballroom dancing Latin champion) in dances through the wars. Having worked with artists like George Michael, his concepts are awesome. Jill Thomas, ex-BBC journalist and MD of Bruton Productions is going to do a superb job on filming. And we're delighted to have the musical expertise of composer Ian Lynn (class52music) who has arranged music for Barbara Dickinson and composed many tv themes.
Our D-Day veterans and ex-armed forces seniors are ready to don their trainers and learn the art of breakdancing all in the name of supporting our armed forces and their families. HYPE members are cracking on with their cha-chas and tangos!
We'll be performing our wartime songs and dances around the constituency, entertaining and teaching children and young people all about the sterling work of our armed forces and the experiences of our veterans. We hope to sell the recorded version and hit number one!
Move over "Road to Amarillo", the X Factors from Eastleigh are about to arrive!
