I shook David's hand!

Shazia shakes David's hand

What an inspirational speech from David Cameron – and the applause he received after delivering the speech was thunderous.

I was in the front row (did I mention?!), and as David walked passed with Samantha he shook my hand! The first thing that came into my head was how stunning Samantha looked in green so I told her and of course then said to David what a fab speech it was.  Did I do that in the wrong order?!

As a woman I think Sam’s a great role model, juggling family and work life and dealing with being thrust into the public eye supporting her husband.

David has injected a new lease of life into the party. His commitment and enthusiasm is infectious, as is his passion for modernising the party – which may help to explain why I am so passionate about this party – it’s probably just rubbed off!

Good Luck to 'The Blue Blog', but grateful if we could have a few more 'red meat' issues in the posts (apologies to vegetarian readers). At least this would allow those wishing to comment to get their teeth into something - I'm a bit concerned that some of the posts on here so far are attracting virtually zero comments. A Blog lives or dies by the volume of people commenting on it (check out Coffee House or Guido Fawkes for examples of how to stimulate Debate). Anyway, on a more positive tack, agree DC's speech was masterful and pitched just right - the fact that the BBC 'rubbished' it is a sign of how good it was.

Memo to David: On Day 1 in No.10, initiate a root & branch clear-out of the BBC's hoplessly left-wing biased News and Current Affairs Depts.

Well....I didn't realise they were both going to come down the stairs the way they did or try and meet as many of the crowd as they did-Sam was lovely and thanked me; she really does look stunning. David was very gracious- think the picture gives away where my attention was at that point... (still a bit embarrassed about that!)

I've had such an amazing first conference experience and had a real behind the scenes look as well as going to some excellent fringe debates; feel free to give me a shout if you want to know anything else....

I think there are already enough "red meat" blogs out there - try this internet search engine called Google (im not just saying that because i am a vegetarian). I think the hand shaking fashionista's sincere, no nonsense, approach is rather refreshing. She sounds real, it will put her in good stead to enter the world of politics.

David is not a pop star. Hopefully he never will be due to the fact that we have just had years of celebrity politics and look where it's got us.
I can understand the excitement but he isn't in No 10 yet to answer our prayers.

This years conference was great, however we have a long way to go until David is in No.10.
