Online Communications Manager
Summary
A vacancy has arisen for an Online Communications Manager in our New Media team for a period of up to 12 months. The role will be based within the Campaigning Department at Conservative Campaign Headquarters in London.
Description:
The Online Communications Manager will assist in the management of the Party's digital portfolio and will work closely with the Acting Head of Digital. This is a high profile and constantly evolving part of our operations, as we seek to be at the forefront of online campaigning and communications.
Principal roles and responsibilities include:
- Helping to manage the Party's digital portfolio (Conservatives.com, MyConservatives.com and assorted microsites)
- Working with our appointed agencies to ensure best results and value for money
- Identifying opportunities to increase site traffic through improved Search Engine Optimisation, advertising campaigns, paid search and working with third-party websites
- Taking responsibility for the accessibility of the site and ensuring that it complies with W3C guidelines and accessibility requirements
- Working with teams across CCHQ to ensure our online offering accurately reflects the Party's operations in other areas
- Further developing the Party's extensive social media presence
- Leading on our email marketing strategy
- Training other members of staff in the use of our Content Management Systems
- Managing online content with Associations already working with CCHQ re: content management
- Promoting best practice across the organisation by disseminating resources, auditing activity, and training.
Ideal competencies required:
- Understanding of digital and social media
- 1-2 years experience in related work
- Knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation techniques
- Strong written communication skills.
Desirable attributes also include:
- A working knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS), HTML, CSS and web editing software
- Experience with an enterprise email marketing product
- Experience managing digital agencies
- Project management skills / experience
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work hard and under pressure
- Sound political judgement and understanding
- Enthusiasm for the Party and its potential for utilising the internet.
