Compliance Support Analyst


An opportunity exists to join the Conservative Campaign Headquarters team based at CCHQ in Central London in the role of Compliance Support Analyst.


This is an exciting time to become part of the team and to really make a difference as we look forward to the build-up to the next General Election in 2015. This role is not a political role and you are not expected to have previous experience – training will be provided.

The Compliance team's remit covers CCHQ, the Conservative Constituency Associations of which there are over 600 as well as an advisory role with respect to MPs, MEPs and other organisations connected to the Party.

The role includes working with the team to: 

  • Ensure that the Party adheres to its regulatory and statutory reporting requirements by legal deadlines, including the Political Parties Elections and Referendums Act 2000 by assisting in the preparation of the quarterly donation and loan reports, and reports of changes of constituency officers, to the Electoral Commission. Also assisting, where needed, with issues relating to compliance with Data Protection related legislation
  • Building an effective working relationship with local constituency offices regarding donation and loan submissions and providing advice and assistance on the filing of their annual statement of accounts with the Electoral Commission. Also, ensuring the constituencies are up to date on their election insurance
  • Developing relationships with key internal departments. Working closely with the Treasurers Department to advise them on compliance related matters for their proposed fundraising events. Working with the Finance Team to ensure the correct receipt, banking and reporting of all monies that are required to be reported
  • Understanding and using the bespoke Compliance Database and working with constituencies and our IT Team to ensure that the Party’s electoral software Merlin is effective for compliance purposes
  • Working with the rest of the team to make recommendations to the Compliance Manager on enhancing our reporting processes for loans and regulated transactions
  • Checking the permissibility of potential donors to the Party
  • Assisting, where needed, with developing guidance such as bulletins, training and awareness-raising sessions with colleagues across the Party regarding compliance requirements.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Very strong attention to detail, strong on process with a creative mind
  • Good team skills and be a self-starter, who can talk confidently with a wide range of people including Members of Parliament and constituency volunteers
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. Good organisational skills and an ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure and to prioritise competing tasks
  • A good head for figures
  • Good IT skills including a working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • A good degree or equivalent
