Tell us your campaign ideas

JEREMY HUNT, THE SHADOW MINISTER FOR CULTURE, MEDIA AND SPORT:

I am a strong believer in the power of single-issue campaigns - they are great ways to raise awareness and energise public support.

I have run a lot of successful campaigns in my local constituency – and now I want YOU to help me come up with an idea for a national campaign.

OUR 2012 LEGACY

I’d like your ideas for campaigns around the lasting sporting legacy of the 2012 Olympics. Labour have promised free swimming to the over-60s, but is there something else we should be aspiring towards? Perhaps we could inspire school children with visits from current Olympic athletes, boost competitive sport by organising more inter-school fixtures, or establish a network of new community facilities across the country?

I’ll review every entry and publish a selection on The Blue Blog. Whoever comes up with the best idea will be invited to come to Westminster and present their idea to me and the Culture, Media and Sport team.

We will, of course, cover all your travel and accommodation expenses (within the UK).

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

Grassroots participation is the key to successful campaigning – and so it makes sense to start our campaigns from the bottom up rather than the top down.

As a Party, we are committed to using the internet to get people more involved in the political process.

We want to encourage open-source politics - and campaigning is one area which requires true collaboration.

HOW TO ENTER YOUR IDEAS

Simply email me on huntj@parliament.uk with your suggestions by midnight on 31st October. Please keep your entries to 250 words or less – and remember that the campaign must, obviously, reflect our values as a Party.

Conference Football 2008

Give Labour the boot

One of the most memorable moments of each Party Conference is the traditional game between the Conservatives and the Press. This year's game ended 4-2 to the Press, which was an improvement on last year's 10-0 drubbing suffered by the Conservatives.
